York City and Accrington Stanley last faced in League Two in 2015-16, with Stanley winning home (3-0) and away (5-1) that season – York’s only Football League defeats to them.
Accrington Stanley have lost six of their last seven league games against newly promoted opponents, winning the other 1-0 at home to Oldham in November 2025.
York City are only the fifth newly promoted side to earn 13+ points (assuming 3/win all-time) in their opening five home games of an English fourth tier season, after Scarborough (13 in 1987-88), Macclesfield Town (13 in 1997-98), Hartlepool United (13 in 2021-22), and Notts County (15 in 2023-24).
Accrington Stanley remain winless in 12 away league games (D4 L8), their longest run in the EFL since November 2011 (16).
