Cardiff City midfielder Omari Kellyman has been named the EA Sports FC Young Player of the Month for April, capping off a standout campaign in which the Bluebirds secured promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

Kellyman arrived in the Welsh capital on deadline day, joining on loan from Premier League side Chelsea after first making his breakthrough at Aston Villa.

The 20-year-old began his journey in the Derby County academy before earning his move to the top flight, and he has since become a key figure in Brian Barry-Murphy’s promotion-winning side.

Cardiff sealed their return to the second tier in April with victory over Reading - a game in which Kellyman shone, scoring and assisting in a decisive performance.

He rounded off his season in perfect fashion, too, finding the net on the final day to take his tally of goal contributions to 13.

Kellyman returns to West London, having proven his worth, and will be looking to take the next step in his early career with the prospect of potential regular top-flight football on the horizon.
