Swindon Town took top spot in Sky Bet League Two after their 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town was coupled with a 2-0 home defeat for previous league leaders Walsall at the hands of Colchester United.

Swindon took the lead in the 31st minute as Ryan Tafazolli headed in Darren Oldaker’s cross to claim his first goal for the club, before the Robins were pegged back in first-half stoppage time when when Matty Virtue’s surging run and pinpoint delivery allowed Ryan Graydon to nod home his fifth of the season.

Despite being denied all three points, that point was enough for Ian Holloway's side to overtake Walsall in the standings after the Saddlers went down 2-0 to Colchester.

The U’s struck twice before the break, Samson Tovide tapping in after Harry Anderson caught the Saddlers napping from a set-piece, before Tovide turned provider with a surging run and precise cross for Kyreece Lisbie to fire into the roof of the net.

MK Dons moved up to third spot with a 2-0 home victory against fellow promotion hopefuls Salford City. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing opened the scoring from the spot in first-half stoppage time before Callum Paterson sealed the win at the death, slotting the ball beyond goalkeeper Matt Young after a driving run from Alex Gilbey. The victory lifts MK above their visitors in the table.

Notts County needed a stoppage-time penalty from Matthew Dennis to rescue a 1–1 draw against a resilient Harrogate Town at Meadow Lane. Tom Cursons had put Town ahead before the break with a deflected close-range finish. The Magpies piled on the pressure in the second half, but it took a late decision against Shawn McCoulsky for a foul on William Jarvis to give Dennis the chance to level the scores from 12-yards which he duly took.

The Sky Bet League Two promotion race remains incredibly tight after 16 games with just three points separating second and ninth place in the table. Bromley and Cheesterfield propelled themselves into the Play-Off positions after wins over Barrow and Grimsby Town respectively.

At the other end of the table, Shrewsbury Town moved themselves out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over struggling Newport County. Anthony Scully got the game's only goal with a fine finish on the half-volley from the edge of the area in the 51st minute.

Cheltenham Town slipped back into the bottom two after they were defeated 3-2 away at Tranmere Rovers. Steve Cotterill's side had come back from two goals down to level the scores in the second half, but Tranmere's Charlie Whitaker settled it with a superb 25-yard free-kick to seal a much-needed victory for Rovers.
