There were two games on Friday night in Sky Bet League Two. Here's a round-up of the action.
Evan Khouri starred with a goal and an assist as Grimsby Town secured a crucial victory over fellow play-off contenders Colchester United.
After Khouri squandered an early chance, the Mariners took the lead just 30 seconds into the second half when Kieran Green tapped in his cross from close range. Colchester levelled six minutes later through Owura Edwards, who curled a left-footed strike in off the far post.
Both sides pushed for a winner, with Grimsby’s Jordan Wright tipping Arthur Read’s long-range effort over, while Colchester’s Matt Macey denied Harvey Rodgers. Khouri sealed the points late on, firing home after Tom Flanagan’s error.
Meanwhile Tranmere Rovers extended their unbeaten run to six games, moving further clear of relegation with a comfortable win over Cheltenham Town.
Kristian Dennis opened the scoring with a first-half header from Josh Hawkes’ corner, while Cameron Norman wrapped up the points in stoppage time. Cheltenham’s Timothee Dieng missed a golden chance early on, heading over from six yards, and Rovers dominated thereafter, with Omari Patrick, Sam Finley, and Regan Hendry all going close before Norman’s late strike.
