With one game left in the season, AFC Wimbledon travelled to Grimsby Town knowing that they would almost certainly need to win to secure a Play-Off position.

52 minutes in, defender Sam Hutchinson scored the all important goal to secure a 1-0 victory and take Wimbledon into the Play-Offs. After the game, it was revealed that the 35-year-old suffered a heart attack during the sixth minute of the game, which he played the entirety of.

Following the announcement, the Dons informed supporters that he had undergone successful surgery, although his season would be over. Having shown such determination to play in a huge game, despite not feeling 100%, Hutchinson's spirit speaks volumes about the culture at AFC Wimbledon, a spirit which was taken into the Play-Off Campaign.

AFC Wimbledon went on to win the Play-Offs and gain promotion to League One, and it was fitting that Hutchinson was present at Wembley to celebrate the promotion. The way his teammates spoke about him during post-match interviews and content on the day says a lot about his influence on the dressing room, a story which shows the importance of camaraderie.
