Carabao Cup: Sandro Tonali wins the Quarter-Final Player and Goal of the Round
Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali has been awarded the Carabao Cup Player of the Round and Goal of the Round for the Quarter-Final.
The Italian midfielder scored a brace in the Magpies' convincing 3-1 victory over Brentford, delivering a masterclass performance to help his side reach the Semi-Final.
His thumping 20-yard opener was voted as the Goal of the Round with his second goal a cushioned side-foot volley from an Anthony Gordon corner.
"I am really proud to receive these awards. The Brentford game was a special night for me and I was very happy to help the team reach the Semi-Final. The Carabao Cup is an important competition for us and we want to keep going in this direction," Tonali said.
"Scoring at St James' Park for the first time in over a year was an amazing feeling and I would like to say thank you to the fans, my teammates and the gaffer for their support in helping me achieve this."

The 24-year-old also received heaps of praise from manager Eddie Howe after the Brentford game with the Magpies boss saying that they are "starting to see the best" of him following his return.
Newcastle are aiming for a second Wembley trip in two years and take on Arsenal for a place in the Final, with the Semi-Final first leg taking place on Tuesday 7 January.
