The first midweek fixtures of the season for Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two did not disappoint, with late winners and 100% records broken and maintained across the two divisions.

Sky Bet League One

Stevenage snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory away at Port Vale thanks to two late Jamie Reid goals. The Stevenage striker now has five goals for the season as he struck twice in the final few minutes to see Alex Revell's side come from behind to keep their place at the summit of League One with maximum points from four games.

There was also late delight for Cardiff City as they came away from AFC Wimbledon 1-0 winners thanks to a stoppage-time goal from substitute Isaak Davies. The Bluebirds dominated large periods of the game but struggled to break down a resilient Dons defence before Davies tapped home with seconds to spare.

Bradford City continued their fine start to life back in the third tier with a 2-1 win at Stockport County. The hosts took an early lead when Owen Moxon struck from distance in the 16th minute. However, the Bantams struck back after the break as Will Swan equalised just after the hour mark, before Antoni Sarcevic delivered the winner against his former Club with a smart finish in the 72nd minute.

Sky Bet League Two

Crewe registered an impressive 4-1 triumph away at Fleetwood Town to maintain their 100% record in 2025/26. An own goal from Toby Mullarkey within the first minute of the fixture set the Railwaymen on their way with Josh March doubling the advantage with a well-placed effort in the 22nd minute.

Calum Agius and Reece Hutchinson got in on the act in the second half to mark an emphatic victory for Lee Bell's team.

Grimsby Town moved up to second in the League Two standings with a win over Walsall at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium. The only goal of the game came on 68 minutes as Evan Khouri fired home a loose ball after a header was blocked on the line by Aden Flint.

Chesterfield's winning start to the campaign came to an abrupt end as they were defeated 4-1 at Gillingham. Gills, who are yet to taste defeat themselves this season, registered a comfortable victory courtesy of two goals from the penalty spot from Armani Little, a debut goal for Lenni Cirino and a stoppage-time strike from Marcus Wyllie.
