Shamza Butt has achieved incredible things at such a young age - volunteer, a King's honour, young people's advocate, police officer.

And at the very heart of her success has been her local football club, Bradford City.

After moving to the UK from Italy as a 16-year-old, she developed language and confidence skills through the Bradford City Foundation's National Citizen Service and later the Peer Action Collective.

It proved to be a pivotal moment for the teenager.

"I didn't speak the language, I was 16. I didn't really know what I was doing, I just wanted to do something fun," she said.

"Being in the Foundation changed me as a person. I used to be really shy, I didn't really do anything outside of home. I didn't like to go out.

"I was very much an introverted person because of that massive language barrier and the confidence I didn't have."

Her continued work in the community saw her be the youngest person named on the King's Birthday Honours this summer, as she received a British Empire Medal for her contribution to the National Citizens' Service Trust Youth Voice Forum.

She is now on a journey to become a police officer with West Yorkshire Police.

"Since I started going to the Community Foundation I've met an amazing team of people," she said.

"I never would have achieved what I've achieved, like my dream job. It's all thanks to the people who were at the Foundation who suported me in getting this role."
