Goalkeeper: Lukas Jensen (Lincoln) - 6.84 rating
Lukas Jensen gets the nod in goal after a stellar season between the sticks for Lincoln City. The Imps conceded the second fewest goals of any side in League One this season with 40, with Jensen keeping a total of 19 clean sheets in his highest rated league campaign of his career thus far.
Right-back: Tennai Watson (Charlton) - 6.80 rating
Tennai Watson claims the right-back spot in the team of the season with a WhoScored.com rating of 6.80. The 27-year-old enjoyed his best performing season of his career with one goal and four assists his strongest attacking output.
Centre-back: Carl Piergianni (Stevenage) - 7.46 rating
Stevenage’s Carl Piergianni is the WhoScored.com League One Player of the season with a rating of 7.46 for his efforts. The Boro captain dominated in the air throughout the campaign and won the most aerial battles (380), made the second most interceptions (68) and won the most Player of the Match awards (10) of any player in the league.
Centre-back: Eiran Cashin (Derby) - 7.43 rating
Eiran Cashin joins the league’s highest rated player at the heart of the defence. The Derby man topped the charts for interceptions (71) and played a vital role in the strongest backline in the league, conceding just 37 goals in the campaign.
Left-back: Harrison Burrows (Peterborough) - 7.28 rating
Peterborough’s Harrison Burrows completes the defence. The 22-year-old has been vital for Peterborough at both ends of the pitch, ending the season with the most key passes (115), the joint-most big chances created (20) and providing the second highest total of assists (14).
Central midfield: Cameron Brannagan (Oxford) - 7.31 rating
Cameron Brannagan ends the season as the highest rated midfielder in League One. The Oxford midfielder contributed a total of 12 goals and nine assists in the Yellows’ successful playoff hunt. Brannagan was the stand-out dead-ball specialist in the league with the most key passes from a set piece (51), the most corners taken (185) and the most penalties scored (9) boasting a 100% success rate from the spot.
Central midfield: Marlon Pack (Portsmouth) - 7.16 rating
Joining Brannagan in the midfield is the Portsmouth’s Marlon Pack. The 33-year-old provided nine assists in the title-winning campaign, as well as chipping in with three goals for Pompey.
Central midfield: Lewis Wing (Reading) - 7.19 rating
Despite a 17th-placed finish, it was a stellar season for Reading’s Lewis Wing. The Royals midfielder notched a total of 10 goals and provided eight assists in a rollercoaster season for the Berkshire side. Wing demonstrated his ability from range throughout the campaign scoring seven goals from outside of the box, the joint-highest total of any player in England’s top four tiers. The 28-year-old picked up nine player of the match awards in the campaign, the third highest of any player.
Right wing: Kwame Poku (Peterborough) - 7.08 rating
Kwame Poku posted his best rated season of his career in 2023/24. The 22-year-old bagged 11 league goals and contributed seven assists for the league’s highest scorers.
Striker: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (Derby) - 7.24 rating
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing ends the season as the league’s top goal contributor with 25 goals (9 goals and 16 assists) in Derby’s promotion clinching campaign. The Rams forward also ends the season as the joint-highest big chance creator with 20 clear-cut chances created in 2023/24.
Left wing: Ephron Mason-Clark (Peterborough) - 7.28 rating
Completing the XI, is Peterborough’s Ephron Mason-Clark. Mason-Clark was fundamental to Peteborough’s playoff pursuit with the 24-year-old ranking second for key passes and topping the charts for successful dribbles.
