Ipswich Town moved back up to second in the Sky Bet Championship and within a point of league leaders Leicester City, with a statement win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Norwich City took advantage of Hull City’s blank week, extending their lead in sixth place following a convincing 3-0 win over Stoke City.
West Bromwich Albion made it six games unbeaten as they beat Bristol City 2-0 to solidify their fifth place in the table, while Ryan Lowe’s return to Home Park was a happy one, as Preston North End edged Plymouth Argyle 1-0. The result lifts North End up to ninth and five points off the Play-Offs, while Argyle slip to 18th.
Elsewhere, Watford held on to get a 1-0 victory over Birmingham City under interim manager Tom Cleverley, who only stay out of the relegation zone on goal difference with Rotherham United vs Huddersfield Town, Sunderland vs QPR and Middlesbrough vs Blackburn Rovers all ending goalless.
In League One, Derby County secured a huge win over promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers to widen the gap between second and third place. More than 32,000 fans were at Pride Park to watch the Rams’ victory, with Kane Wilson scoring the only goal of the game.

Portsmouth beat Peterborough to go five points clear at the top and Lincoln City’s emphatic win over Bristol Rovers saw them move to within two points of the Play-Off place. The Imps have now won eight of their last 10 league matches, scoring 26 goals and conceding just three in the process.

In League Two, Mansfield Town bounced back from a midweek loss in style, with a 5-1 victory over Bradford City at Valley Parade. The Stags are now five points clear at the top of the table, with Stockport County not playing until Monday night.

At the bottom of the table, Sutton United boosted their survival hopes with a vital 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Forest Green Rovers. Steve Morison’s side are now just three points from safety.
