This is Southampton’s first league visit to West Brom in the Championship since April 2008, when they drew 1-1 with Adam Lallana netting their goal.
West Bromwich Albion are unbeaten in their last 11 home league games played on a Friday (W7 D4) since losing 1-0 to Chelsea in May 2017, which secured the Blues the Premier League title.
Southampton’s 22-game unbeaten league run came to an end with a 3-1 loss at Bristol City. The Saints last suffered consecutive defeats earlier this season in September (four in a row).
Southampton have conceded three goals in each of their last two Championship games (5-3 vs Huddersfield, 1-3 vs Bristol City), conceding more in those games than in their previous 12 combined (5). The Saints haven’t shipped 3+ goals in three league games in a row outside the top-flight since September 1965.
Birmingham City v Sunderland
Birmingham City have lost their last three league games against Sunderland, their worst losing run against the Black Cats since September 1997.
Sunderland have won just one of their last nine away league matches against Birmingham (D3 L5) but it was in their most recent trip last season, a 2-1 win.
Birmingham manager Tony Mowbray has already managed in this fixture this season when he was Sunderland manager, leading them to a 3-1 win over Birmingham in November at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland have only won one of their last 15 away league matches played on Saturdays (D7 L7), a 3-1 win over QPR in September 2023.
Birmingham City won 1-0 in their last home league game against Blackburn Rovers – the Blues last won consecutively on home soil in October (vs Huddersfield and West Brom).
Bristol City v Queens Park Rangers
Bristol City have lost their last three home league games against QPR, as many as they’d lost in their previous 21 against them at Ashton Gate combined (W11 D7).
The away team has won seven of the last eight league meetings between Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers, with the other a goalless draw earlier this season.
Bristol City have won five of their last nine league games at Ashton Gate (D1 L3), beating Southampton last time out to end their 25-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
QPR haven’t lost any of their last four league games played at the weekend (W2 D2), last going five without defeat on Saturday/Sunday between May and September 2021 (seven in a row).
Bristol City forward Nahki Wells has been involved in eight goals in 12 league appearances against his former club QPR (6 goals, 2 assists), scoring in his last start against them in October 2022.
Huddersfield Town v Hull City
Huddersfield Town have won their last three home league games against Hull, winning under a different manager each time (Cowley, Corberan, Fotheringham).
Hull are looking for their first league double over Huddersfield since the 2012-13 campaign.
Huddersfield Town have won their last six home league Yorkshire derbies, keeping five clean sheets in a row. Their last home derby defeat was in April 2021 vs Barnsley (0-1).
Hull have lost both of their away Yorkshire league derbies under Liam Rosenior, losing 1-0 to Sheffield United and 3-1 to Sheffield Wednesday.
Hull’s Billy Sharp has scored seven goals in his last eight league appearances against Huddersfield Town. The last time he netted at the John Smith’s Stadium was for Leeds, scoring a late winner in a 2-1 win in January 2015.
Leicester City v Middlesbrough
Leicester are unbeaten in their last seven home league games against Middlesbrough (W3 D4), with this their first meeting at the King Power since November 2016, a 2-2 draw.
Middlesbrough are looking for their first league double over Leicester City since the 2001-02 Premier League season.
Leicester City have won 14 of their last 17 home league matches (D1 L2), including 13 this season. It’s their most in a season since winning 17 in 2013-14 when they won the Championship.
Middlesbrough have won two of their three Championship matches against the sides relegated from last season’s Premier League, although both wins were at home. In their only away match, they lost 3-2 to Leeds in December.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has assisted 12 Championship goals this season for Leicester City – it’s the most by a Foxes player in a league season since David Nugent in 2013-14 (12).
Millwall v Sheffield Wednesday
Millwall are looking for their first league double over Sheffield Wednesday since the 2002-03 season.
Sheffield Wednesday are winless in six league matches against Millwall (D3 L3), scoring just one goal across these games.
Millwall have lost just two of their last 14 home league games against sides from Yorkshire (W9 D3), losing against Huddersfield and Leeds in March and September 2023 respectively.
Following a 1-0 win over Charlton in their most recent league trip to London, Sheffield Wednesday are looking to win consecutive league games in the capital for the first time since August 2017.
Since winning consecutive Championship games in their final game of 2023 (1-0 vs Preston) and first game of 2024 (3-1 vs Hull), Sheffield Wednesday have picked up just four points in six games (W1 D1 L4).
Norwich City v Cardiff City
Norwich City have won eight of their last 11 league games against Cardiff City (L3), including each of their two against the Bluebirds under David Wagner.
Cardiff have only won three of their 28 away league visits to Norwich, losing 71% of their games at Carrow Road (20/28).
Norwich manager David Wagner didn’t win any of his five league games against Cardiff City when he was Huddersfield Town boss (D2 L3) but has won both in charge of the Canaries.
Cardiff have lost four of their last five Championship matches, failing to score in three of those defeats, including their last two games.
Since the start of December, only Blackburn Rovers (9) have lost more Championship matches than Cardiff City (8), with the Bluebirds netting the joint-fewest goals in that time (9, level with Rotherham).
Plymouth Argyle v Leeds United
Plymouth Argyle are winless in their last nine league games against Leeds (D2 L7) since a 1-0 win in April 1989.
This is Leeds United’s first league visit to Plymouth since November 2006 under Dennis Wise, winning 2-1 with goals from Robbie Blake and Eddie Lewis.
There have been 10 goals scored in all competitions between Plymouth and Leeds this season and every goal has been scored by a different player; for Plymouth (Waine, Randell, Galloway) and Leeds (James, Piroe, Anthony, Gnonto, Summerville, Rutter and a Hardie own goal).
Leeds United have won their last five away games in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and conceding just once. They last won six in a row between May and September 2019 under Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke is unbeaten in his last 17 Championship matches against teams who are newly promoted to the division (W13 D4) since losing to Sheffield United as Norwich boss in January 2018.
Preston North End v Blackburn Rovers
Preston are looking for their first league double over Blackburn since the 2018-19 campaign.
Blackburn Rovers are unbeaten in their last three away league matches against Preston North End (W2 D1) since a 3-2 defeat in October 2019.
Preston North End have won two of their last three league games against fellow Lancashire sides (D1), as many as they had in their previous eight combined (W2 D1 L5).
Blackburn Rovers have lost seven of their last 10 league games (W1 D2), with their only win in that time coming at home to Stoke in John Eustace’s first game in charge.
Blackburn have lost their last six away league games. Rovers last had a longer away losing run between March and October 2009 (10 in the Premier League).
Rotherham United v Watford
Rotherham United are winless in their last 11 league games against Watford (D4 L7) since a 2-1 win in February 2003.
Watford haven’t lost an away league game against Rotherham since November 2002 under Ray Lewington, winning three and drawing two since then.
Rotherham United have won one of their last 19 Championship matches (D7 L11), a 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough in December.
Rotherham have won just three of 31 Championship matches this season – since 2004-05, they are only four instances of a side having three or fewer wins after 31 games and two are the Millers (3 in 2004-05 & 2023-24), while the others are Ipswich (3 in 2018-19) and Barnsley (3 in 2021-22).
Watford’s Tom Ince has scored nine goals in nine league appearances against Rotherham United, the most he’s netted against a single opponent in his English league career.
Stoke City v Coventry City
Stoke are unbeaten in their last two league games against Coventry (W1 D1), having lost three of their previous four against the Sky Blues (D1).
Coventry City have won eight of their last 12 away league games against Stoke City (D1 L3), winning three of their last four (D1).
Stoke and Coventry shared a goalless draw in the Championship earlier this season – the sides haven’t drawn both league games in the same season since 1980-81.
Stoke are winless in their last 15 home league matches against fellow ‘City’ teams (D8 L7) since a 3-0 win over Swansea City in February 2022.
Coventry City are unbeaten in their last nine league games against sides beginning with S (W3 D6) since a 4-0 home defeat to Stoke in April 2023.
Swansea City v Ipswich Town
Swansea have only lost two of 14 home league games against Ipswich Town (W7 D5) but one of those was in their most recent game against them at Liberty Stadium, losing 3-2 in 2018-19.
Following their 3-2 win against Swansea earlier this season, Ipswich are looking to record their first ever league double over the Swans.
Swansea City have lost all three of their home league games under Luke Williams so far, scoring just once and conceding eight goals.
Following wins over Cardiff and Swansea already this season, Ipswich Town are looking to win three league games against Welsh opposition in a single season for the first time.
Swansea have lost four of their last five league matches (W1), as many as they’d lost in their previous 14 games combined (W4 D6 L4).
