Burnley got their 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship campaign off to a positive start, taking all three points back to Lancashire in a dazzling 4-1 win over Luton Town.

The two teams rounded off an action packed opening weekend with the clash televised live on Sky Sports from Kenilworth Road.

With both sides looking to bounce back at the first attempt after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season, it was the Clarets who came out on top.

Scott Parker – the two time Championship promotion winner with Fulham and Bournemouth – took to the dugout for his first game in charge of the Club, having been appointed as the new Burnley boss earlier in the summer.

It took just six minutes for midfielder Josh Brownhill to bag the first goal of the Parker era as the 28-year-old latched on to Lucas Perez's pass and finished off the move to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

Burnley's advantage was doubled by Wilson Odobert as the youngster utilised his pace to make it 2-0 to the Clarets with 37 minutes gone.

In the second half, Luton pulled a goal back through Tahith Chong but it wasn't long before Burnley re-established their two-goal advantage.

Republic of Ireland international Dara O'Shea headed in Burnley's third goal of the night from a corner kick to put the Clarets in the driving seat with 73 minutes on the watch.

With 10 minutes of time remaining, Vitinho capped off a dominant display when the Brazilian made it 4-1 to all but wrap up victory for Burnley.
