Sky Bet League Two post match stats!

14 January 2023

Here are five key stats after another action-packed Saturday in Sky Bet League Two!

  • Gillingham’s victory against Hartlepool United ended a run of 12 league matches without a win (D4 L8). After managing just one goal in their last nine EFL matches, they scored twice in this game. That was the first time this season that they have scored more than once in a single league match.
  • After failing to win any of their previous 11 league games on the road (D1 L10), Colchester United beat Rochdale for their third successive EFL away win. It’s the first time they have won three on the bounce in the same campaign since December 2008 against Northampton Town, Leeds United and Brighton and Hove Albion.
  • Charlie Austin scored in his first game back at Swindon Town, 12 years and 11 days since he last scored a league goal for the club. Remeao Hutton got two assists today, including Austin’s opener; it’s the first time he’s provided two assists in a single EFL match (94 games played).
  • After scoring just three goals in his first 34 league games for Salford, Conor McAleny has now got six in his last three, scoring in each of those matches. Elliott Watt set up McAleny’s opener with his ninth league assist this season; that’s just one fewer than he managed in his three previous EFL seasons combined (10).
  • Kristian Dennis has scored 14 league goals this season for Carlisle United, 10 more than any other player has managed for the team in League matches in 2022/23. Only Northampton’s Sam Hoksins has scored more in the division (16).
