The December nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month Award are:
Luke Armstrong (Harrogate Town) – striker
His assured calmness in front of goal continues to pull Harrogate away from the League Two relegation zone. Four goals in three games, as well as an indirect assist, included clinical back-to-back braces against Rochdale and Grimsby.
Carl Piergianni (Stevenage) – central defender
A throwback, Piergianni just loves an aerial duel. The heart of a Stevenage defence which conceded only one goal in four games, he was superb in the 0-0 draw at leaders Orient and then scored two headers in the win over Crawley.
Matt Smith (Salford City) - striker
Towering headers are expected of Smith, but they only made up two of his four goals in three games. The others, a clipped finish off his standing foot and a delightful sweetly-timed left-foot volley came in his hat-trick at Grimsby.
Kyle Wootton (Stockport County) - striker
The 26-year-old has had to take the long road to becoming an EFL starter, but is drawing the reward for his persistence and patience. He burst into life in December with braces at Hartlepool and Walsall, part of his four-goal haul in three games.
