The December nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:
Chuba Akpom (Middlesbrough) - striker
Having gained confidence while playing in a more withdrawn role, Akpom continued his fine form with four goals in as many games – all of them poached while leading the line. His hat-trick at Wigan showed off his lightning quick feet.
Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield United) - striker
Has returned from the World Cup inspired by his performances for Senegal. Flitting around the front line, running with pace at defenders and always looking to create havoc, he provided an assist in each one of United’s four December games.
Alex Palmer (West Bromwich Albion) - goalkeeper
West Brom’s forward line is purring thanks to the defensive shield behind it. Key to that is Palmer whose superb saves preserved victories at Sunderland and Bristol City. Conceded just two goals in five games – and both were penalties.
Joel Piroe (Swansea City) - striker
The Dutchman has rediscovered his zest, involved in six of Swansea’s eight goals with his intelligent movement. His three goals included two crisp finishes against Watford, while two others came after his headers struck the woodwork.
