The December nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month Award are:
Carlos Corberán (West Bromwich Albion)
So often a new manager bounce falls back on a lack of foundations. No such worry with the defensively astute Corberán whose side didn’t concede a goal from open play in December as they marched to a 12-point haul from five games.
Paul Heckingbottom (Sheffield United)
A perfect month for Heckingbottom’s side who opened up an 11-point cushion on third place. Their four victories were a triumph for defensive determination and midfield grit allied to clinically taken chances at the other end.
Tony Mowbray (Sunderland)
Having coaxed and cajoled his side through a period without any fit strikers, Mowbray made sure to profit when Ross Stewart and Ellis Simms returned to score a combined six of Sunderland’s 11 goals as they won 10 points from five games.
Vincent Kompany (Burnley)
Kompany’s leaders answered every question posed of them, cantering to 3-0 wins over QPR and Birmingham, coming from behind to beat Middlesbrough and winning a tight affair at Stoke for 12 points and 10 goals from four games.
