Kids Cup report: Reinwood Junior School

31 January 2023

A report of Reinwood Junior School's run in Huddersfield Town's qualifying round for the Utilita Kids Cup.

We came on the minibus and when we arrived we got our shin pads and boots on ready for the matches.

After we were told all the rules, we warmed up. It was freezing cold and our toes were numb; but we were ready for the matches.

We were lucky enough to win 4 matches but drew 2 in the group stages. After a long, hard group, we were heading inside to have a rest and have some food.

In the semi-finals, we were against Kirkburton and they were a good team from minute 1. We stayed strong and even had some shots, we kept it 0-0 at half time. After half time, we had a few very good chances. Eventually, they got some close range goals against us. Sadly, we then lost 2-0 in the end.

We were disappointed when we lost but we still enjoyed the day. We got a certificate and signatures from Kian Harratt and Pat Jones which was extremely exciting.

We were overall happy with our performance and what happened over the day and we were out of class and it was like a win anyway. The experience itself was amazing and we would be really happy to do it again.
