Brennan Johnson scoops Carabao Cup Player of the Round

10 January 2023

Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson has scooped the Carabao Cup Player of the Round for Round Four.

Ahead of Forest's Quarter-Final clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow night, Johnson reflected on a 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in Round Four.

The Welsh international was on target twice as Steve Cooper's men cruised through to the next round.

Johnson won a penalty for the visitors to Ewood Park inside 13 minutes, before dusting himself off to steer Forest into the lead, confidently slotting home from 12 yards.

And he added his second of the night and Forest's fourth in the final moments of the game to complete the victory and cap off a fine performance.

“Thank you to everyone who voted," he said. "I’m really pleased to win this award after what was a really good performance and result against Blackburn.

“I was obviously delighted to hit the ground running from the World Cup with two goals, but it was a team effort and everyone played their part in the victory.

“We now need to show the same mentality as we prepare for our Quarter-Final against Wolves.”

Forest return to the City Ground on Wednesday evening when they prepare for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers, wit the two teams set to battle it out for a place in the Semi-Final. See the full Quarter-Final draw here.
