Newcastle survived a scare at the hands of Sky Bet League Two opposition Tranmere Rovers in Round Two as the Magpies came from behind to progress in the competition, winning 2-1 at Prenton Park.

Newcastle United 0-0 Crystal Palace (3-2 on penalties)

(Round Three)

Stopper Nick Pope was the hero of the hour as Newcastle saw off Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in a penalty shootout in Round Three. The England international saved three spot-kicks as the Magpies won 3-2 on penalties in the end.

Newcastle United 1-0 Bournemouth

(Round Four)

Another Premier League team awaited Newcastle in Round Four as the Magpies entertained Bournemouth at St James’ Park. Adam Smith's own goal was the difference as the Magpies beat the Cherries 1-0.

Newcastle United 2-0 Leicester City

(Quarter-Final)

Eddie Howe’s side made light work of Leicester City in the Quarter-Final, but it was an evening to remember local hero Dan Burn who notched his first goal for his hometown team in a 2-0 victory over the Foxes.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle United

(Semi-Final First Leg)

The Magpies were daring to dream of the Carabao Cup Final when Joelinton handed Newcastle the advantage in a slender 1-0 triumph over Southampton in the first leg of the Semi-Final.

(Semi-Final Second Leg)

In the return fixture at St James’ Park, Southampton looked to be no match for the Magpies. With Newcastle one game away from Wembley, Howe’s men were on a mission as they came flying out of the blocks, beating Saints 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.
