The March nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month Award are:
Harry Pickering – BLACKBURN ROVERS v Sheffield United – 4th March
A majestic 90-yard counter-attack by Blackburn from their own area. Four players touched the ball, but others contributed by taking defenders away before Pickering applied the final flourish.
Gabriel Sara – Millwall v NORWICH CITY – 4th March
Sara knew exactly what he wanted to do when the ball ran just behind him. Controlling it with his right foot, he pirouetted and in one movement swept the ball into the far corner with his left.
Andi Weimann – BRISTOL CITY v Blackpool – 11th March
Weimann still had much to do after a one-two with Andy King eased him into position on the edge of the area. A quick turn, shift and rapier-like thrust with his left foot later and it was done.
James McClean – Watford v WIGAN ATHLETIC – 18th March
McClean is not known for his heading ability, yet the power and pinpoint placement with which he met a cross into the box after judging its flight and sprinting towards it could not be bettered.
The March nominations for the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month Award are:
Ryan Hardie – PLYMOUTH ARGYLE v Charlton Athletic – 4th March
All his own work. Hardie didn’t think twice as he charged down a Charlton kick-off. Then came instant control of a ball dropping awkwardly over his shoulder and a dinked delight of a finish.
Haydon Roberts – DERBY COUNTY v Shrewsbury Town – 4th March
For all the neat patterns weaved by his Derby teammates in the build-up, Roberts’ execution was simplistic but brilliant as he put his laces through the ball with a hammerhead of a strike.
Alfie May – Peterborough United v CHELTENHAM TOWN – 11th March
A stunning virtuoso volley from the half-time. May struck two other glorious goals in March, but neither could match the sheer impudence, imagination and technique of this magical moment.
Steven Sessegnon – CHARLTON ATHLETIC v Accrington Stanley – 11th March
There seemed nothing on even after Sessegnon had jinked inside an opponent in midfield. He thought differently, arcing the ball into the top corner with pace and precision from 35 yards.
The March nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month Award are:
Jack Sowerby – NORTHAMPTON TOWN v Crawley Town – 4th March
Sowerby combined two perfect pieces of judgement in this unstoppable volley. Firstly, he adjusted his feet to track the loop of a clearing header and then timed his strike exquisitely.
Omar Bugiel – SUTTON UNITED v Crawley Town – 7th March
As the ball ricocheted around the Crawley six-yard box, Sutton fans would have taken a scruffy tap-in. Bugiel had a different idea, conjuring up the sublime with a deliciously cute back-heel.
Noah Chilvers – Leyton Orient v COLCHESTER UNITED – 18th March
Chilvers had only one thought in his mind with his side trailing 2-1 in the 92nd minute, charging forward at pace, cutting back under a tackle and then lashing home a power-packed rising shot.
Callum Hendry – Stockport County v SALFORD CITY – 31st March
Taking a bouncing throw-in on his chest, Hendry didn’t hesitate, turning and striking an instant volley so purely into the far corner that it brought an audible gasp of disbelief at Edgeley Park.
