As part of the EFL’s recently launched Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, ‘Together’, the League are once again supporting Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, which began yesterday and runs until Monday 31 October.

EFL Clubs will once again support the campaign with specific matchday activity including Rainbow coloured captain armbands and corner flags with the clear message that football is for everyone.

Wider LGBTQ+ inclusion activity organised by Clubs and Club Community Organisations will also take part across England and Wales throughout the campaign.

This will include:

  • Blackburn Rovers unveiling a new Proud Rovers merchandise range
  • Leyton Orient hosting an LGBTQ+ football tournament
  • Accrington Stanley launching their ‘Out Stanley Out’ LGBTQ+ Supporters Group

In December 2021 the EFL held its first-ever LGBTQ+ Fans Forum, hosted by Sky Sports' Mark McAdam as part of the Rainbow Laces campaign and alongside its Clubs, the EFL is committed to working collaboratively to provide everyone with the same opportunity to succeed.

The 'Together' strategy serves as a reminder that, while progress has been made, there is still much to do to enact positive change across the country.
