The October nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:
Zian Flemming (Millwall) - midfielder
After overcoming injury niggles and adjusting to life at The Den, Flemming thrived in October. A powerful runner from deep, the Dutchman was central to the Lions’ winning run with four goals, including a 25-yard stunner at Rotherham.
Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City) - striker
Three goals, but what an impact. Coventry’s only fit striker for half of the month, Gyokeres scored winners against Middlesbrough and Cardiff, won the decisive penalty against Sheffield United and converted a last-gasp spot-kick for a draw against Rotherham.
Auston Trusty (Birmingham City) – central defender
The left-sided of three central defenders, Trusty’s aggressive and athletic play contributed to Birmingham conceding just five goals in seven games, while he ventured forward at set pieces to score three himself, including a flicked finish against QPR.
Jerry Yates (Blackpool) - striker
An October for the ages for Yates owed much to his clever positioning. There were three braces among his seven goals and an assist in seven games, which included four predatory headers, two volleys and a jinking solo run against Watford.
