The players to choose from are:
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji (Arsenal U21s)
The 19-year-old midfielder showcased his dazzling footwork, pace and finishing ability, scoring twice at Cambridge and coming within inches of a hat-trick with a run from deep and blistering shot against the bar. His determination to drive forward also saw him start and finish a breakaway goal in the win at Northampton.
Jacob Chapman (Salford City)
Two appearances, two winning penalty shootouts saving two spot-kicks in each for the 22-year-old on loan from Huddersfield. What’s more, the Accrington tie was his Salford debut as he saved brilliantly from opposite number Toby Savin. Chapman repeated his double spot-kick heroics at Rochdale to send Salford through to the next round.
Dennis Politic (Port Vale)
The only hat-trick of the group stage belonged to Politic, who pressed his case for a regular starting berth in Vale’s league side. His first was a reward for shooting from distance. The second and third, scored within 90 seconds of each other, were clinical finishes after dropping into a pocket of space in the area.
Kieran Sadlier (Bolton Wanderers)
Often a substitute in league games, Sadlier is able to play on the right of a front three or as a wing-back. His versatility allied to an ability to find space and his silky-smooth finishing meant he was the only player in the Papa John’s Trophy first round to score in all three group games.
