The Carabao Cup Semi-Final is just hours away, as Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur get the competition back underway this evening and Sky Sports EFL pundit Jobi McAnuff has made his predictions for both ties.
Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur
“You look at the improvement that Spurs have made under Conte. They’re in good form generally. From their point of view, they’re coming into the game in a good place.
“As for Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel has got them energised. With Lukaku possibly coming back, that could be a major boost for them. Under Tuchel, they’ve got a real winning mentality when it comes to Cup competitions.”
Jobi's verdict:
“I think the first leg will be quite cagey with not a lot in it, but I just fancy Chelsea to edge it over the two legs. It will be a really good game."
Arsenal v Liverpool
“They're two teams in good form. Once you get to this stage, you saw how much it meant to the Clubs. For Liverpool to come back in the fashion they did against Leicester was brilliant. You could see after the game how delighted they all were to get through. That shows the importance of the competition.
“Again, Arteta seems to have found the right formula with Arsenal. They’ll be coming into the game really, really full of confidence. It’s a really good opportunity for them to win silverware this season. It will be a good time for Arsenal to play Liverpool."
Jobi's verdict:
"I fancy Arsenal just at the moment to win the first leg and probably sneak across the line over both games.
“You see massive teams fighting it out now. It should be a cracking group of Semi-Final games.”
