The January nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:
Dan Grimshaw (Blackpool) – goalkeeper
An understudy to the injured Chris Maxwell in name only, Grimshaw’s bravery and reactions continue to impress. He conceded just once in three games and made a series of brilliant saves in the narrow wins over Hull and Millwall.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) - striker
It says it all about Mitrovic’s domineering presence, strength on the ground and aerial power that he still stood out in a Fulham side which scored 23 goals in January. He notched six himself and contributed two assists in his four games.
Antoine Semenyo (Bristol City) - striker
The young striker has long been touted as an explosive talent waiting to burst into life. Could the month in which he turned 22 be that moment with three goals and three assists, courtesy of pacy direct running, vision, skill and finishing?
Chris Willock (Queens Park Rangers) – attacking midfielder
With Ilias Chair at the African Cup of Nations, Willock became the central hub of QPR’s attacking play. He took the mantle with ease, jinking past defenders to score against Birmingham and sending over delicious crosses at will among his five assists.
