The March nominations for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month Award are:
Barry Bannan (Sheffield Wednesday) - midfielder
Short on stature, long on talent and huge on influence, the 32-year-old simply mesmerises League One opponents. Involved in over half of Wednesday’s 17 March goals, he scored three himself, all of them sumptuous long-range shots.
Harry Darling (MK Dons) – central defender
The central defender with a silky touch was his usual purposeful self at the back, while maintaining Dons’ automatic promotion push with calmly headed equalisers against rivals Rotherham and Wigan. He also contributed an assist.
Alfie May (Cheltenham Town) - striker
Five more goals in six March games for the inspired 28-year-old. What variety, too. A poacher’s finish, three shots on the run, including a breath-taking lofted finish at Sheffield Wednesday, and a superb free-kick at Doncaster.
Danny Mayor (Plymouth Argyle) – attacking midfielder
Argyle’s creative spark, there was no telling where Mayor would pop up next. His four assists included a wicked curling cross against Morecambe and a genius of a pass against Wimbledon to add to his impudent lobbed finish against Cheltenham.
