Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month nominees: August 2021

6 September 2021

The August nominations for theSky Bet League TwoPlayer of the Month Award are:

Tyler Burey (Hartlepool United) – striker

A natural winger, the 20-year-old has impressed up front by closing down defenders and holding the ball. Add to that an assist and three goals in four games, including a solo effort against Walsall and a lovely curling strike against Carlisle.

Andy Cook (Bradford City) - striker

A beneficiary of the Derek Adams fitness revolution at Valley Parade, the forward contributed four goals and an assist. They included a perfect hat-trick in the first half against Stevenage and the winner through clever positioning at Mansfield.

Joe Murphy (Tranmere Rovers) – goalkeeper

The Irish keeper turned 40 in August, but you wouldn’t know it from the way in which he threw his body in the path of shots, headers and deflections to concede just two goals in five games, which included a brilliant display at Swindon.

Matt Stevens (Forest Green Rovers) - striker

Five goals in as many games for the 23-year-old who managed just three in the EFL in the whole of last season. His intelligence and movement brought him headers against Sutton and Walsall, and a smart looping finish against Crawley.
