The September nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:
Ben Brereton-Diaz (Blackburn Rovers) – striker
A summer away with Chile appears to have given Brereton Diaz the missing piece to his game. Six goals, including a hat-trick against Cardiff, and an assist were claimed with a willingness to beat defenders and add a flourish to his finishing.
Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City) - striker
Not only did the increasingly confident Swede score five of Coventry’s seven September goals, three of them broke the deadlock in games. His direct running and ability to ease past defenders before finishing were hallmarks, too.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) - striker
A second successive nomination for the Serb, who scored six of his side’s nine goals in September and contributed an assist. The highlight was a hat-trick against Swansea which showcased his movement, timing and shooting technique.
John Swift (Reading) - midfielder
In an injury-ravaged side missing its main strikers, Swift lifted the responsibility for Reading’s goals onto his shoulders, driving forward to score four and assist three. And what goals, including a hat-trick against QPR and a fabulous free-kick versus Peterborough.
