Jimmy Bullard’s Carabao Cup Round Four predictions

26 October 2021

Round Four of the Carabao Cup promises a number of mouth-watering ties, along with former West Ham United man Jimmy Bullard, who will be bringing you the Quarter-Final draw live on Soccer AM.

The former midfielder, who has played in the League Cup for likes of Fulham, Wigan Athletic and Peterborough United during his 15-year-long career, offered his thoughts - including individual predictions - ahead of this week’s Round Four action…

CHELSEA v Southampton

Bullard's prediction: “Does that not talk for itself? They’ve got a great squad this year. Chelsea to beat Southampton all day.”

Arsenal v LEEDS UNITED

Bullard's prediction: “There’s always swerve balls in the Cup games. This, I felt was a slippery one. I just felt that Leeds are good. Could it be a banana skin for Arsenal a bit? Or is it even a banana skin?

“I think it’s tighter than what people think. Arsenal aren’t the Arsenal of old, in my opinion. I could see Leeds upsetting them.”

Stoke v BRENTFORD

Bullard's prediction: “I just think they’re amazing and they’re running on a high. OK, it’s at Stoke but I just fancy Brentford massively.”

WEST HAM UNITED v Manchester City

Bullard's prediction: “I went early being a Hammer, but I can’t change it now, can I? That’s going to be a tough one.”

LEICESTER CITY v Brighton and Hove Albion

Bullard's prediction: “Since they won the League, and I suppose there’s a few neutrals that like Leicester, I jumped on that little crowd. They’ve grown since then. Look where they were 10 or 15 years ago to what they’re doing now.

“They’re an amazing little outfit with some great players, not underrated but been bought under the radar. They’ve got a great manager and they play some great stuff. On their day, they’re as good as anyone.”

BURNLEY v Tottenham Hotspur

Bullard's prediction: “This is another banana skin really, so I’ve gone with Burnley. Just fancied it.”

QUEENS PARK RANGERS v Sunderland

Bullard's prediction: “I’ve gone with the home team, being a London boy and backed QPR over Sunderland. Sunderland are a huge sleeping giant but I’ve gone with QPR.”

Preston North End v LIVERPOOL

Bullard's prediction: “The mighty juggernaut. It’s got to be Liverpool, hasn’t it?”
