Pundits review Saturday's EFL action

14 February 2021

Ian Holloway and Darren Bent were guest pundits on the Quest EFL highlights show, and were on hand to review all of Saturday's big results.

Here's what they had to say...

Ian Holloway on Derby County's Lee Gregory...

“When I was at Millwall, my wife actually saw Lee Gregory’s stats when he was at Halifax and said 'why you don’t you sign a player like this?' So we did.

“Unfortunately, at the time, it was too big a step for him but I knew he would go on to score goals. I’m delighted for him.”

Darren Bent on Norwich City's Todd Cantwell...

“Todd Cantwell’s such a good player; he started the season linked to be going elsewhere, left out of the squad because his attitude wasn’t quite right, but he certainly looks focused now! It was a great one-two and a great goal.”

Darren Bent on Watford's Ismaila Sarr...

“They’re a team that have come down from the Premier League and managed to hold on to their best players. Sarr was brilliant today.

“Two assists, two goals and the pace as well! He was linked with the biggest Clubs in the world like Manchester United and Liverpool, so the fact he’s got his head down and playing so well in the Championship, that’s testament to the manager and himself.”

Darren Bent on Wycombe Wanderers...

“An absolutely brilliant result for Wycombe, you’re talking about a team that’s bottom of the Championship, showing great fighting spirit to come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 [at Huddersfield Town]!

Darren Bent on Millwall's Mason Bennett...

“He was the hero today, and I’m really happy for him. He’s had a tough couple of years after breaking through at a very young age at Derby, and he’s never really fulfilled his potential.

"That goal will give him massive confidence. He’s got all the attributes... strong, powerful, quick. If he can somehow put it all together Millwall have a serious player on their hands.”

Darren Bent on Cardiff City's Kieffer Moore...

“If Kieffer Moore continues like he is, then for me, I think he’ll get 20 goals this season because he’s a man on top, top form.”

Darren Bent on Sunderland AFC's Charlie Wyke and Aiden McGeady...

“Charlie Wyke with four great headers, and McGeady puts it into the box so well, he never underhits or overhits it. Superb today.”

“When you’ve got that kind of link-up when you know they’re going find you with quality, it makes a big difference, and Wyke’s certainly benefitting from that.”

Darren Bent on Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink...

“Three wins in their last four under Hasselbaink and three clean sheets. The clean sheets will impress him more than anything.

"At the start of the season, Burton leaked a lot of goals and weren’t giving themselves a chance."

Ian Holloway on Gillingham's Connor Oglivie...

“If I was his manager, I’d bring him here and give him a bottle of champagne! It’s one you dream about scoring, and even when the goal is slowed own the ball still travels so fast!

"The goalie makes it even better because he really goes for it. Top bin.”
