Michael Morrison reviews the weekends Sky Bet Championship action

1 February 2021

Current Reading defender Michael Morrison was a pundit on this week's Quest EFL highlights show, and was certainly impressed by what he saw from his teammates over the weekend, as well as the rest of the Sky Bet Championship action!

On Lucas Joao…

“Maverick is the word for Lucas Joao; when he’s in the box his feet are so good for a big man, he opens the goal up with the skill and slots it in.

“He tried that earlier in the match and it didn’t come off so credit to him for persisting and always keeping true to himself.”

On Reading’s youngsters…

“These youngsters are a credit to the football club, themselves, and their families. I know Tom Holmes and Tom McIntyre and they’ve been to games with parents, been season ticket holders and they love the club.”

“I think that connection with the club is great especially as fans can’t be in the stadium at the moment.”

On Josh Laurent, the one to watch…

“For me, the most underrated player in the squad is Josh Laurent, a great free signing from Shrewsbury - he’s stepped up to the level and been wonderful for us.”

On Brentford v Wycombe…

“In the first half, Wycombe more than matched Brentford and had some really good chances that they’ll look back on and think how the game could have gone differently if they took them.”

On Cardiff City…

“You need effort if you want to play under Mick McCarthy, and Harry Wilson’s definitely got quality, he just needs to match it with effort. A lovely, dinked finish from Wilson and a great pass from Kieffer Moore.”
