The EFL can confirm that a total of 5470 players and Club staff from all 72 EFL Clubs were tested as part of last week’s testing programme, with 16 positive cases returned.
A twice-weekly COVID-19 mandatory testing progamme is now in place for all 72 Clubs, with today’s results covering all tests undertaken from Monday 1 to Sunday 7 February. 64 EFL Clubs returned zero positive tests over this period.
Players or Club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate in line with latest Government guidance.
- Testing will not eliminate risk and must be used in conjunction with the protocols already being followed across all EFL Clubs
- Lateral flow devices (LFDs) deliver a rapid assessment on whether someone is infectious or not
- If an individual tests positive using LFD they will be required to undertake a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) antigen test
- The EFL regularly reviews its COVID-19 protocols and guidance in-line with government advice.
