Michael Brown reviews Saturday's Championship action

4 October 2020

After a typically dramatic day of football in the Sky Bet Championship, Michael Brown was on hand to have his say.

Speaking as a pundit on EFL on Quest, the former midfielder had his say on Bristol City, Luton Town, Reading and Derby County...

On Dean Holden's superb start to management...

“He has been coaching for a long time and waiting for the opportunity, and what a start they’ve had under him. He’s got a team that have showed real quality and with a goalkeeper in form as well.

“Away from home against a difficult Nottingham Forest side who had 21 shots... it was Dan Bentley’s 50th appearance at the club and that’s what you need from a goalkeeper. He’s getting better and better.”

On Luton's seventh win in 13 games...

“Nathan Jones has come back in, he’s played 13, won 7, drawn 4 and lost 2 - and they've kept five clean sheets! It’s going really well!"

On Reading making it four from four...

“It was a fantastic win against a Watford side that we know are very strong. Actually, Reading were much better in the first half. Second half, Watford really turned it on and put the pressure on. But it was a fantastic performance.

“The two central defenders, and the two midfielders Rinomhota and Laurent in front of Morrison and Moore were the difference for Reading."

On Wayne Rooney's brilliant free-kick...

“I fancied Rooney all day long and what a finish. He’s still doing it. It’s great to see!”
