Darren Bent reviews the weekend action

1 November 2020

Former striker Darren Bent was a pundit on this week's Quest EFL highlights show, and had his say on the Halloween action in the Sky Bet Championship.

Here's what he had to say on the likes of Brentford, AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City, Wycombe Wanderers and Middlesbrough...

Brentford's Marcus Forss scores again...

“He’s scoring a goal every 28 minutes at the momemt, six in his last seven, it’s crazy. His finish today showed a man full of confidence, waiting for the keeper to go down and dinking it over him”

“It’s good for Brentford as a whole, as having this man coming off the bench and pushing Ivan Toney will only make both play better.”

Huddersfield playing with passion...

“They were very impressive and they completely outworked Millwall. They got forward, attacked with energy and really showed passion today which isn’t something we’ve associated with them these last couple of games.”

Conor Roberts shines for Swansea...

“From start to finish, they created a lot of opportunities and put a lot of crosses into the box. Connor Roberts was absolutely superb today, and what I like about him is when he crosses the ball, he puts it in with real quality.

“It’s a great ball in and an amazing header from Cabango for their goal.”

Bournemouth's Atletico Madrid loanee Riquelme shows his maturity...

“Riquelme’s goal was a really mature finish. A lot of players in that position would try and hit that as hard as they can, but he used the pace of the ball and guides it into the corner.”

"Steve Cook put his face on the line, that’s all you can say. He’s stuck his head there and he’s saved his team a point there and showed great experience."

Pukki back to his best at Norwich...

“They were superb in the first half, Buendia and Pukki. Pukki’s movement is absolutely tremendous in my opinion, he’s always on the shoulder and his body position always tells the midfielder where he wants the ball

“If they have any aspirations of getting to the Premier League, he’ll be at the heart of it again”

Dominic Ball's last-minute winner for QPR...

“Dominic Ball, what a strike that is! What I like about it is that it’s still raising as it goes into the goal; if ever you’re going win a game, that is the way to win it.

“It's a good touch out of his feet, a touch with the right and smash with the left; the keeper's got absolutely no chance.”

Wycombe’s first-ever Championship win...

“It’s a great header from Dave Wheeler and don’t take anything away from the finish, he’s got across the near post and clearly they’ve worked on that. It’s flown into the top corner.”

Middlesbrough: a typical Neil Warnock side...

“I wasn’t surprised, especially at the start of the season with Warnock being in charge, we know what he’s going to do.

"They're hard to play against, defensively solid, well organised, and that’s what we’re seeing from this Middlesbrough team.”
