Fleetwood Town defender Harry Souttar has been awarded the EFL’s Young Player of the Month award for February.
The 21-year-old centre back is currently on loan at the Sky Bet League One side from Championship club, Stoke City.
He scored the winning goal in the opening game of February against Doncaster, a month which saw Fleetwood unbeaten in Sky Bet League One.
His form even led to former Sunderland player Stephen Elliott has highlighting Souttar for praise, suggesting that he is the best centre-back he has seen the Black Cats come up against this term after their 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.
"Obviously when I got the text saying I’d won the award it was a nice feeling," said Souttar.
He added: "I don’t think it’s only me that could take the award. I think that the whole back four and the keeper have been excellent and since we’ve had the new players in January and the new formation we’ve settled in quite quickly.
"It’s all those boys at the back who kept them clean sheets and put us on the run that we’re on."
