Preview: Trophy Round Three

The Road to Wembley continues with a host of fantastic ties!

7 January 2020

The Trophy action returns tonight, as Round Three of the competition continues.

With Exeter City beating Ipswich Town at the weekend to book their place in the Quarter-Finals, there are seven Round Three ties left to play and the action continues tonight.

Ipswich Town, who currently sit in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off places, sold out the away end against their high-flying Sky Bet League Two opponents on Saturday, in what was a dramatic encounter. Exeter City left it late, but Lee Martin’s 93rd minute winner means that they’re already in the hat for the Quarter-Finals.

Elsewhere in Round Three, there's a Lancashire derby clash between two League One sides in Fleetwood Town and Accrington Stanley, as well as an all-League Two match-up which sees Salford City taking on Port Vale.

Manchester City U21 and Leicester City U21s are the only Under-21 teams remaining in this year's competition, and both have away games to navigate if they are to reach the next round - they take on Scunthorpe United and Tranmere Rovers respectively.

Also taking place are Newport County v MK Dons, Walsall v Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers v Stevenage.
