Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says reaching the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley is an amazing feeling after seeing off Manchester United over two legs in this season’s Semi-Final.
This will be the third year in a row that Pep Guardiola’s side have been to Wembley for the Carabao Cup Final and they have been victorious on each occasion. Gundogan says that special things happen under the famous arch.
He said to the club's TV channel: “It’s another great possibility to win a trophy. Great teams, great players and great personalities try to go for it all.
“To be in the Final of this competition for a third time in the row is amazing and obviously we want to win.
“It’s a Final. It’s Wembley. You always want to win there. It’s a historical stadium, where great things have happened in the past and also for us.”
City secured a passage to the Final after a 3-2 win on aggregate but lost 1-0 on Wednesday evening’s second leg at the Etihad Stadium, and the 29-year-old adds it is strange to go through following a loss.
He added: “It feels strange, to be honest, to get through to the Final with a loss, but it just shows that the first leg went quite well for us.
“Even though I think we started and played quite well, obviously there are still some things to improve on. Especially after conceding a goal, you get a bit insecure.
“But the most important thing now is getting into another Final and again it is a great chance to win another trophy.”
