Carabao Cup Final countdown begins in style

28 February 2020

London's Tower Bridge played host to a spectacular event to launch the 60th anniversary Carabao Cup Final on Thursday evening.

Hosted by Sky Sports presenter, Jim White, the countdown-to-kick-off event brought together a group of special guests to both look back at the history of the competition and ahead to this season's Final, which will be contested by Aston Villa and Manchester City on Sunday 1 March.

Among those in attendance were the scorer of the first-ever League Cup Final-winning goal for Villa, Peter McParland, as well as two-time winner John McGovern, former Luton Town player and manager Mick Harford and four-time winner Emile Heskey, with the two Finalist Clubs represented by Stiliyan Petrov and Shaun Wright-Phillips respectively.

Attendees were addressed by EFL Chair Rick Parry, and Carabao UK Managing Director David Butcher, before the guests took to the stage to speak about their League Cup memories and experiences, in what was an incredible setting.

The build-up to Sunday's Final continues on social media, via @Carabao_Cup on Twitter and @TheCarabaoCup on Facebook and Instagram.
