Sky Bet League One: Manager and Player of the Month November winners

11 December 2020

The winner of the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month award for November is...

Sky Bet League One: John Coleman (Accrington Stanley)

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has been named the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for November.

While other teams have had more games, Stanley are simply winning most of the ones they play, amassing 10 points from four fixtures on their return from a Covid-19 enforced lay-off. Coleman’s team didn’t concede a goal all month, either.

Coleman said: “It should be named Team of the Month to be honest, I’m just a small part of it.

“We’ve got great staff here who work ever so hard, prepare really well for the games and the players have been running themselves into the ground.

“They practically crawl off the pitch, it’s a pat on the back for them really.”

Danny Wilson chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “Ten goals scored and zero conceded in four games put John Coleman’s side within touching distance of the Play-Offs with games in hand.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Accrington faced a reduced fixture list in November due to Covid-19 troubles, but they absolutely made the most of the four games they were able to play.

“Coleman’s troops picked up three wins, one draw and didn’t concede a single goal during November, continuing his amazing work and making him the clear winner of this month’s award.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “After a two week shutdown in October due to COVID, manager John Coleman guided his side to three wins and a draw in November as the Lancashire club went from twelth place in the table to seventh.

“Coleman has regularly punched above his weight with Stanley and once again they’re exceeding our pre-season expectations that his side might be closer to the relegation places than the Play-Offs this season.

“We rated them as a 16/1 shot for promotion and a 2/1 shot for relegation before a ball was kicked, but after their good form we have cut them into 8/1 to be promoted to the Championship.

“If they can win a couple of their games in hand, expect that price to continue to squeeze, as  they would be left in the automatic promotion places and have Accrington fans dreaming of another miracle under Coleman."

The winner of the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award for November is...

Sky Bet League One: Callum Camps (Fleetwood Town)

Fleetwood Town midfielder Callum Camps has been named the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for November.

Four November goals, and what goals, from the marauding midfielder. Bursting forward at every turn, even a swerving free-kick and a dreamy lob against Bristol Rovers would have been upstaged had a stunning volley against Sunderland not hit the bar.

Fleetwood manager Joey Barton said: “I'm delighted to see Callum's form has been recognised, he's had a superb start to the season.

“It's very rare you get people of his age to put the ball in the back of the net so often from the role he’s playing.

“He’ll be the first to praise his team-mates for the quality of chances they are creating for him but we have really lacked that player, a goalscoring midfielder and I'm delighted for him.“He scored four goals in November and if you watch them back it's almost like he's having his own goal of the season competition.

“We are delighted to have him and work with him every day to help him improve.”

Camps said: “I’m delighted to have won this award and be named the league’s Player of the Month for November.

“I think we’ve played some good football throughout the month and I would like to thank the players, the Gaffer and the rest of the staff. I will continue to keep working hard and try my best to help the team push forwards."

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Sometimes in football, players that are pleasing on the eye flatter to deceive and often don’t have the impact their talents merit but you certainly can’t say that about Callum Camps during the month of November.

“The Fleetwood midfielder bagged four goals from deep last month and each seemed to be more stunning than the last. Having made the impression he did, it is little wonder he has scooped this award.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “Callum Camps was in spectacular goal scoring form again during November as he scored four great goals to help Fleetwood to two wins and a draw in the three games he started.

“That put the midfielder on eight league goals for the season and amazingly puts him joint second in the top scorer charts after sixteen games, just one goal behind Portsmouth striker John Marquis who is the 9/2 favourite to win this award.

“Camps will be looking to help Fleetwood climb back into the Play-Off places with his performances and hope to continue to chip in with a few more goals. The Cod Army are 9/1 be to be promoted this season.”
