After conducting the draw for Round Three of this season's Papa John's Trophy, former striker Jon Parkin sat down to discuss the competition, including one of the standout ties...
Here's what he had to say...
On Fleetwood Town v Blackpool in Round Two...
"I think it's one that people look forward to. It's the first fixture you look for; 'when are we home and away against our local rivals?' People seem to get up for it more than what they would for a normal game."
On his favourite goal from Round Two...
"The young lad for Leicester. Shane Flynn. He's chipped it over the [Salford City] goalkeeper, and I used to like chips. For a young lad to show that kind of composure, I'd have to say that one."
On Hull City v Fleetwood Town in Round Three...
"I think they'll both be raging, to be honest! To be fair, Sunderland, Hull, Fleetwood, Lincoln... they're big teams in that division that probably would have liked to have avoided each other at this stage of the competition, but it is what it is. You're going to have to beat them at some point if you want to get to the Final and go on to win it."
On Sunderland and Portsmouth...
"If you're playing in it, you want to face a Portsmouth or Sunderland - they're going to take 40,000 or 50,000 fans and it makes for a better atmosphere. That's the dream. It's massive for any club and a great day out for the club, the players and the players' families."
On his standout moments in the competition...
"I actually got to the Northern Final, when I was at Fleetwood, but we got beaten by Chesterfield. At the time, I hadn't played at Wembley so I was absolutely gutted, I thought it was going to be my chance."
Parkin was speaking to Sporf's Will Brazier as part of the 'A Night In With' series.
