Brentford striker Ivan Toney was naturally delighted to help his side reach a first-ever Carabao Cup Semi-Final in midweek, and is dreaming of securing a place in Europe with the Bees by going all the way in the competition.
Toney has undoubtedly been Brentford's star man so far this season, having raced to the top of the Sky Bet Championship scoring charts after winning last season's League One golden boot with Peterborough United.
The forward stepped off the bench as the Bees claimed a fourth Premier League scalp of the campaign, beating Newcastle United 1-0 to reach the last four of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Speaking after the game as part of EFL on Quest and before their Semi-Final opponents - Tottenham Hotspur - were confirmed, he said: “Ivan Toney in Europe sounds great to my ears! But, look, it’s going to be a great draw whoever we get. We just have to focus on winning, it won’t be easy but that’s the mentality we have.
“The dressing room was special for the boys, making history. Obviously, the majority of us haven’t been in this position before, and its joy to be a part of."
While it's usually Toney himself getting among the goals, Tuesday's tie was settled by a fine strike from Josh Dasilva, who has come in for plenty of praise from his team-mate.
“I see it all the time, in training and in previous games, he’s a joy to watch," Toney added.
"He's like a young Yaya Toure; he’s a player, all over the pitch! He can do one-on-ones, and I always know when he stands someone up that he’s going to get past them.”
Brentford will travel to Tottenham on Tuesday 5 January, with the game scheduled to kick-off at 7:45pm. Follow @Carabao_Cup on Twitter for more build-up to the game.
