Portsmouth and Salford City to contest Trophy Virtual Final!

22 April 2020

Portsmouth and Salford City are set to battle it out in the Trophy Virtual Final!

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Trophy Final is currently postponed alongside all EFL matches. The situation is being kept under constant review with matches only returning when it is safe to do so.

So, together with, EA and the two Finalist Clubs, we are bringing a new experience to the homes of Portsmouth and Salford City fans, with the help of a couple of familiar faces.

The Virtual Final will be played in a 1v1 Format, with first-team players Steve Seddon and Ibou Touray representing Pompey and Salford respectively, and while the Trophy Final itself may have been postponed, the virtual event will provide engagement for supporters to live out their virtual matchday in the safety of their own homes.

Output will be shared across Sky Sports, EFL, Portsmouth, Salford City and media channels, offering the game to football fans across the country in the absence of any live sporting fixtures.

Dave Timmis, MD of, said: “We’re very excited for the Trophy Virtual Final. It’s so important right now for everyone to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives, so we’re fully behind this new experience.

“As the car leasing experts, we always try to stay at the forefront of technology and find new ways to engage. In this modern age, people can do virtually anything from home, they can even order a brand-new car from their sofa. That’s why we’re naturally very excited to be involved in a virtual matchday that allows fans to support their teams in the safety of their own homes.”

Keep an eye out over the coming days, and get involved on social media, where you can vote for your starting XI from 1pm on Wednesday 22 April.
