As the Group Stages of the competition nears to a close, we look back at some of the results from this week's Leasing.com Trophy action.
Arsenal U21s saw off Cambridge United on Tuesday night via a penalty shootout at the Abbey Stadium, but the two points they gained from that win was not enough to see them head into the next round of the competition.
Crewe Alexandra were, like Arsenal U21s, penalty shootout winners in midweek, the Railwaymen scored a 78th minute equaliser against Everton U21s before being victorious from the spot, lifting them into second spot in Northern Group E.
But with the two teams below them, still to play each other, the final spot in the group may head to Burton Albion or Mansfield Town.
Simon Grayson’s Blackpool scored a 93rd minute winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s to leapfrog their opponents into top spot of their group.
Coventry City also struck in the 93rd minute to record a 3-2 victory over Southampton U21s, and head back to top spot of Southern Group D.
Leicester City U21s rounded off their group stage campaign with a final win, making it eight points from a possible nine.
Meanwhile Fulham U21s got their first three points of Southern Group G with a 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park, meaning that Milton Keynes Dons and Stevenage progress to the next round of the competition.
The final result of the midweek action came at Brisbane Road on Wednesday evening as Leyton Orient needed a penalty shootout victory to overcome Brighton & Hove Albion in Southern Group C.
However, if AFC Wimbledon beat Southend United next week, the Dons will qualify in second spot ahead of the O’s.
