EFL Appointments: Checkatrade Trophy Final

The match officials to take charge of the 2019 Checkatrade Trophy Final between Portsmouth and Sunderland have been confirmed, with Dean Whitestone named as the referee at Wembley Stadium.

Whitestone will be assisted by Nik Barnard and Richard Wild on the day, while Kevin Johnson will be on Fourth Official duty, with Rob Smith acting as Reserve Assistant Referee.

With over 14 years of experience as a match official in the EFL, Whitestone is approaching his 400th league game as a referee. He also has previous experience in the competition, having been the Fourth Official during Coventry City's 2017 triumph at Wembley Stadium against Oxford United.

Records are on track to be broken for this year's Final, with Portsmouth and Sunderland on course to attract the highest-ever attendance for an EFL Trophy Final since the competition's inception in 1983/84 - for more information ahead of the Final, Click Here.
