Justin Edinburgh, who sadly passed away on Saturday 8 June 2019, enjoyed great success as both a player and a manager in the English game.
Born in the town of Basildon, Essex, on 18 December 1969, Edinburgh’s career in football began with a traineeship at nearby Southend United, where he would go on to become a full-time professional and win promotion.
It was at Tottenham Hotspur, though, where the defender would make the majority of his appearances as a player, winning both the League Cup and FA Cup following an initial loan spell with the club.
A man of great integrity, Edinburgh was equally respected as a manager after hanging up his boots in 2003. He guided Newport County to the Football League after a 25-year absence, with victory over Wrexham at Wembley Stadium in 2013, and would also go on to manage Gillingham and Northampton Town in League One.
In 2017, he was appointed manager of Leyton Orient where, earlier this year, he led the club to the National League title and promotion back to the EFL for the 2019/20 season.
