Team of the Week: 8-10 February

11 February 2019

It was another memorable weekend of football in the EFL and, as always, there was no shortage of standout individual performances. Here's our Team of the Week...

Lee Camp - Birmingham City

While he may have conceded three goals on the day, Camp's display in the Blues' win at Queens Park Rangers only tells half the story. The goalkeeper made a number of superb stops, including a last-minute penalty save, as Garry Monk's men secured an incredible 4-3 win at Loftus Road.

Regan Poole - Newport County

Back at Newport on loan from Manchester United, the defender proved his worth, helping the Exiles to a clean sheet and victory over high-flying Mansfield Town. In fact, it was the fourth shut-out County have managed in Poole's six appearances since returning to the club.

Tomas Kalas - Bristol City

The defender came in for praise from manager Lee Johnson after another commanding performance, this time in City's 1-0 win over in-form Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. Kalas helped his side keep a clean sheet and secure an eighth win in a row in all competitions to move into the Play-Offs.

Ahmed Hegazi - West Bromwich Albion

A masterful performance from the Baggies' big centre-back, who was solid at both ends of the pitch in their vital win over Stoke. Hegazi helped his side keep a clean sheet and assisted Dwight Gayle's first-half goal, which turned out to be the winner.

Sam Stubbs - Notts County

A big performance was needed from the 20-year-old as bottom-of-the-table County travelled to promotion-chasing Forest Green Rovers, and that's exactly what he delivered. Alongside Ben Barclay, Stubbs ensured his side held on for what could be a huge three points.

Jay O'Shea - Bury

Not content with being named Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month for January, O'Shea hit a double as free-scoring Bury won 3-2 at Morecambe to maintain their promotion push. Another fine display from the 30-year-old, who earned plenty of praise after the game.

Emi Buendia - Norwich City

While team-mate Teemu Pukki may have been the man on the back pages, Buendia was integral to the Canaries' derby-day success over Ipswich Town. The Argentine playmaker kept his cool and set up both of Pukki's goals in what was a superb display.

Johan Branger - Oldham Athletic

The Gabon international grabbed his third league goal of the campaign in style with a 25-yard free-kick in the 3-0 win at Crawley Town, before setting up Oldham's second to put the game to bed and deservedly claim a spot in our XI.

Cauley Woodrow - Barnsley

Two goals from the young forward helped high-flying Barnsley extend their unbeaten run to 11 games with an impressive 4-1 win at Gillingham. His first, a looping header, put the Tykes in control, before a low strike put the game beyond the hosts.

Billy Sharp - Sheffield United

It's not often a striker scores a hat-trick and it's not enough to earn their side three points, but that was the case for Sharp on Friday evening. The forward contined his fine form in typical fashion, with a trio of close-range finishes to put the Blades 3-0 up against Aston Villa, only for the hosts to produce a stunning comeback.

Che Adams - Birmingham City

Sharp's wasn't the only hat-trick at the weekend. Birmingham's Che Adams has been one of the Sky Bet Championship's shining lights in 2018/19, and took his goals tally to 19 for the season with an excellent performance here - he now has seven goals in his last five league games.

Manager: Mick Harford

Luton Town's 3-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers saw the Hatters equal a club-record 19 league games without defeat, and underlined the fine work interim manager Mick Harford is carrying out at Kenilworth Road. Luton appear unstoppable in their current form, and sit six points clear at the top.
