As part of Youth Development Week, we're putting the spotlight on young English players who have enjoyed a breakthrough year in the EFL.
Bristol City's Antoine Semenyo has six goals to his name this season, but his qualities extend to more than finding the back of the net, so much so that the Robins recently recalled him early from a season-long loan at Newport County.
Last month, the 19-year-old striker received widespread praise for his display in Newport's Emirates FA Cup win over Premier League side Leicester City, and was described by Martin Keown as “a star in the making”.
Semenyo scored his first Newport goal in the Carabao Cup, just 10 days after making his debut for the club back in August, and later netted in another EFL competition - the Checkatrade Trophy - against Chelsea's Under-21s.
A reported transfer target for several Premier League Clubs, the youngster will now hope to force his way into City's plans in the Sky Bet Championship, and certainly looks like one to watch over the coming months.
