As many as nine EFL Clubs have reached the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup in 2018/19, the joint-second highest number in a single season since the Premier League’s inception in 1992.
Among the remaining teams are Sky Bet League Two side Newport County, who booked their place with a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough in their fourth-round replay, in turn securing both a tie against Manchester City and a significant financial boost.
Only once before, in 2007/08, have more EFL Clubs reached this stage of the competition, and the recent introduction of a new Divisional Progress Prize Fund has provided an added incentive.
The EFL Clubs in this year’s fifth round are: AFC Wimbledon, Brentford, Bristol City, Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall, Newport County, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City.
