Luton Town’s James Justin made his 100th appearance for the Hatters in their 3-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.
The defender, who joined the Sky Bet League One side at the age of seven, says he has enjoyed every minute playing for his boyhood club.
He said: “It is crazy now that it is at 100, it only feels like yesterday that I was starting out, and it could even be more in all honesty.
“It is a nice achievement to have at such a young age, long may it continue because playing that many games at such a young age is the main thing for your growth as a player.
“As a younger player people start to take a bit more notice of you when you are in the team regularly, and it can only be a good thing really.”
Justin was named as the EFL’s Young Player of the Month for November, and says he was delighted to be recognised following a good month for him personally.
He added: “It was an honour to receive the award as I wasn’t really expecting it at all, I had a really good month and when I found out that I won it, I was astounded.
“Everyone around me just makes me better, it is always nice to win personal awards and help contribute to the team doing well of course.
“The award is a good idea for the younger players up and down the country as it gets your name out there, and gets you recognised.”
Luton currently sit top of the League One table, six points clear of second-placed Barnsley, and the 20-year-old says despite losing manager Nathan Jones to Stoke City in January there has been little disruption to their aspirations in the league.
“I think the re-adjustment only lasted one day; ever since Mick Harford took over it has been a seamless transition and it was a bit of a hard situation for me because I have never lost a manager before,” he said.
“It was a difficult one to take but we have kept it going really, the key thing is that he hasn’t changed too much from what the last manager was doing, because he was around the place nearly every day.
“The key thing is, everybody respects him, there has no disruption since he has taken over and it has been nice to have it like that.”
