Ian Holloway believes Wayne Rooney will be a fantastic addition to both Derby County and the Sky Bet Championship, following his move from MLS side DC United.
Rooney remains England and Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer and has taken on the role of player-coach with the Rams, who reached last season's Play-Off Final at Wembley.
Speaking during Quest's EFL highlights show, Holloway believes the striker will have plenty to offer for the remainder of the campaign and beyond.
"Over the last two decades, for me, his footballing brain has been the better than any other England player," he said. "He can play in every position and I hope he brings that brain to all the other players at Derby. He is sensational. Maybe even play him in goal, he is that good!
"Players like Martyn Waghorn can’t wait for Wayne to come. I think Wayne would’ve had a smirk when he scored the free-kick [against QPR] because I think they have been on the training ground together. He will be excited to work and train with Wayne. What a professional to have as a role model."
Rooney was unveiled to Derby supporters ahead of their 1-1 draw against QPR on Saturday, and spoke to the club's in-house TV channel, Rams TV, about the move.
"It’s obviously a challenge to come back to English football with a new club and in a new league," he said. "I’ve not played in the Championship before, but I have watched it over my whole career and I know what to expect in that aspect. It’s great to be back in the dressing room.
"Hopefully I can give the players and the fans a lift and we can push on, but it will be exciting for me also. It is exciting to join a new club and meet the fans for the first time."
